The RTA Youth Educational Program is designed to introduce students about the benefits of public transportation. RTA staff is prepared to answer questions such as:
- How much does a bus weigh?
- How many passengers can a RTA bus carry?
- How much gas does a RTA bus hold and consume a day?
Reminder: We can alter our presentation to your current curriculum. Let us know what you are studying or what you would like for RTA to discuss.
Trip Planning Assistance
Don’t know which route travels to and from your community or school or how much it cost to ride the bus? RTA staff will be glad to help you plan a class field/educational trip. Just give us your school’s name and destination and RTA will do the rest.
Please submit your request in writing three to five days in advance. Please allow RTA staff enough time to communicate with all necessary parties involved to make your experience on the ‘B’, a wonderful one.
Fare Exemption
RTA will exempt your fares for your field trip or youth educational experience.

Classroom Presentation
An RTA representative will visit your classroom and provide students with a 10 to 15 minute presentation on the history of public transportation, transportation in Corpus Christi, and how transportation impacts our environment, bus safety tips, or a career in public transportation. Staff can also tailor the presentation to any special topic.

How to Ride the ‘B’
Your class may be interested in taking a bus ride on one of RTA’s fixed route services. Call the RTA and we will plan your trip on one of the closest bus routes that service your community or school. An on-hand experience will cover topics such as public shared transportation and its benefits, how to safety wait at a RTA bus stop, how to board/alight and seating instructions, the importance of practicing safety habits, as well as, proper etiquette when riding the ‘B’.

Tour the RTA Facilities
Administration & Operations Tour
RTA invites you to come by and tour the RTA Facilities. A tour includes walking thru the mechanics world of the RTA, experiencing an actual bus wash, and tour and visit with dispatchers and bus operators who make the wheels go round. If time permits, your tour could include a visit to the RTA B-line Paratransit offices.
RTA Bus Transfer Station Tour
Your classroom is welcome to visit one of the RTA’s major transfer stations that are located in several different areas of the city. These stations provide convenience and safety transferring to other RTA Bus Routes that service different areas of Corpus Christi.

The “B” Customer Service Tour
RTA Customer Service Center is located at 1806 S Alameda (Six Points area). The Center handles all of the RTA’s customer’s needs. These needs range from bus route information – either by phone or in person, purchasing bus passes, receiving discount rate ‘B’ id cards, and they also handle the certification process for RTA B-Line Paratransit service.

Art Contest
RTA is also looking for new and creative ideas. At least two times a year RTA seeks a new RTA design for the Annual Bus Roadeo and other exciting events.
