ride-along

RIDEalong is a ridesharing program designed to help individuals locate others who are interested in sharing a ride to work or college on a regular basis. It is a service that rescues you from the stress and high cost of driving daily back and forth alone. Whether it’s grabbing 15 more minutes of shut-eye, a cup of coffee, or a few leisurely moments reading the paper… there’s always something you would rather be doing on your way to work or school. With this program you can! RIDEalong consists of carpooling and vanpooling.  Carpools work best when the members live near one another and travel to the same area on a regular basis. They use a car owned by one of the carpool members. Users can choose a single driver or they can alternate. Through the RIDEalong program, RTA will assist you in finding other participants who have the same basic travel pattern and schedule as you do.

By participating in the RIDEalong program you will save money normally spent on personal vehicles. In addition, the RIDEalong program saves tax dollars and it is good for the environment because, with fewer vehicles in use, air pollution is reduced and fewer rubber tires and oil disposal measures are needed. Call 884-8400 for more information or to sign up to participate.
