Dump the Pump – June 16, 2011
June 16, 2011 marks the 6th annual National Dump the Pump Day as a day that encourages people to ride public transportation to save money, protect the environment, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and improve the quality of life for all Americans.
With the return of high gas prices, The Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority will join, with other public transportation systems nationwide, to participate in the sixth annual National Dump the Pump Day on Thursday, June 16. The slogan of this year’s National Dump the Pump Day is “Dump the Pump. Save Money. Ride Transit.”
Therefore, in celebration of this national event, we would like to personally invite you to Dump the Pump at lunch and ride on board an RTA trolley with many of your constituents and community partners.
RTA staff, RTA Board of Directors, and Dump the Pump participants will board Route 79 at Staples Street Station at 11:45am and arrive at Water Street Seafood Company at approximately 12:00 noon. The Route 79 trolley will depart back to Staples Street Station at 12:52pm and 1:22pm. Please be sure to pick up your complementary bus pass from an RTA staff member before you board or make special arrangements by calling Karina Paris at 361-903-3493.
Public transportation is an important part of our local economy and provides citizens with travel options other than driving a car. It is our hope that this opportunity facilitates a viable transportation alternative and encourages health and wellness. Departure Time: 11:45am, Staples Street Station, Bay H ; if you don’t catch the 11:45am bus, the next Route 79 trolley will depart at 12:15pm.
Arrive: 12:00 noon, Water Street Seafood Restaurant (back restaurant)
Depart after lunch: 12:52pm or 1:22pm from Water Street Seafood Restaurant bus stop
Arrive: Staples Street Station at 1:09pm or 1:39pm – depending on departure time.
Please be prepared to pay for your own meal.
