RCAT Currently Accepting Applications

  • RTA currently has openings for volunteers on its Committee on Accessible Transportation (RCAT) and will be accepting applications on an ongoing basis.
  • The RTA Committee on Accessible Transportation provides advice and guidance to the Regional Transportation Authority Board of Directors on the development and operation of the Regional Transportation Authority Paratransit and Fixed Route services as they affect riders with disabilities.
  • As the RTA Committee on Accessible Transportation  is charged with the oversight and advice on general development and operations of paratransit and fixed route service of the RTA, it is important that applicants meet or surpass recommended criteria:

Verifiable affiliation to related service organization or advocacy group
Community involvement (relative to committee purpose)
Knowledge and familiarity of RTA paratransit services/fixed route system
Sensitivity to and/or practical experience with people who have disabling conditions
Communications skills (RTA will make reasonable accommodations to alternative modes of communication; responsive to ADA regulations, i.e., signing, large print, etc.)
Intangibles (This rating must be supported with some written documentation.)

  • RCAT meetings are held the third Thursday of every month at 3:00 p.m. in the RTA Board Room. It is important that an applicant be able to regularly attend the meetings.
